Lone Worker Device

Electricity North West Services Ltd plays a crucial role in delivering electricity safely and reliably to 2.4 million properties across the North West of England. They oversee the grounds maintenance for approximately 20,000 substations, ensuring the infrastructure is secure and well-maintained.

The Challenge

Electricity North West Services Ltd faced two primary challenges in managing their lone workers, who operate remotely across the North West.

The first challenge was ensuring the safety of these employees, who are based out of their homes and work alone in the field. It was crucial for the company to have a dependable system that could monitor their well-being and provide immediate assistance if needed.

The second challenge was the need for a system to record and report incidents, providing a comprehensive history that could be accessed if any issues arose in the future.

Without such a system, it was difficult to verify and manage past incidents effectively. Therefore, it became important to find a solution that could ensure employee safety while also providing detailed and accessible documentation of incidents.

Electricity North West Services

The Solution

After experiencing limitations with a previous provider, Electricity North West Services Ltd sought a system that could deliver the peace of mind and dependability they required. Vatix emerged as the ideal choice due to its modern technology and robust systems.

Their choice to partner with Vatix was driven by the confidence they found in the technology. Knowing that an alarm would be promptly answered in an emergency gave them the peace of mind they were looking for. Furthermore, Vatix’s system offered easy access to historical data, ensuring that all necessary information would be readily available if any situation arose in the future.

A key feature that stood out was the “man down” function, which proved consistently reliable during testing. The system provided the level of safety and security that Electricity North West Services Ltd needed.

Results

Since implementing Vatix’s solution, Electricity North West Services Ltd has seen notable improvements in both system usage and staff satisfaction. The ease of use and reliability of the devices have naturally encouraged more consistent use without the need for additional prompting.

Compared to their previous system, key improvements such as the charging dock and the more secure attachment system for coveralls have addressed previous issues, leading to greater satisfaction among the team. Staff have found the Vatix system straightforward and user-friendly, resulting in a more effective and dependable safety monitoring process for the company.

“We chose Vatix because I wanted peace of mind, and they’ve delivered that. Usage has gone up with the staff, and the systems are reliable—I can trust them. Plus, I have confidence knowing that if I ever need to review an incident, the data is there.”
