Lone Worker Devices & App

Wessex Internet provides ultrafast full-fibre broadband to rural communities in the Wessex region, including Dorset, Wiltshire, and parts of Hampshire and Somerset.

Founded in 2010, they focus on connecting remote areas with reliable and affordable internet services. Their mission is to enhance connectivity in underserved regions with a commitment to innovation and community engagement.

The Challenge

Wessex Internet faced significant challenges due to their rapid growth, with employees spread across Dorset and Wiltshire, often working within 60 miles of the worksite.

Ensuring the safety of their field workers was paramount. They needed a solution that guaranteed employees returned home safely, with reliable reporting.

Additionally, they sought a system managed externally to eliminate the burden on internal staff. The solution also required robust signal coverage to be effective in their operational areas, which often included remote and rural locations.

The Solution

After experiencing challenges with other providers, Wessex Internet started a trial period with Vatix.

During this period, Vatix stood out for its hands-on support and exceptional service.

The 24/7 Alarm Monitoring Centre allowed Wessex Internet to ensure the safety of their workers without adding to internal staff responsibilities, which was a key factor in their decision to move forward with Vatix.

The team’s feedback was incredibly positive. The app and devices’ user-friendliness was greatly appreciated, making the setup and deployment seamless.

The comprehensive support extended beyond setup, with Vatix providing personalised assistance through videos and helpful interactions whenever questions arose or support was needed.

This level of support, combined with reliable signal coverage in all operational areas, led Wessex Internet to confidently choose Vatix as their provider.

Results

The integration of Vatix’s solution has caused a positive shift in Wessex Internet’s safety culture.

There is now greater awareness and active engagement in lone working protocols, with employees proactively requesting to join the system.

The quick setup, user-friendly nature, and comprehensive support from Vatix have made the implementation seamless and successful. This has significantly improved safety and given staff peace of mind, knowing that they can get quick help in an emergency.

The commitment to ensuring worker safety has fostered a more engaged and conscientious workforce, reflecting a meaningful impact on overall health and safety practices within the company.

The whole process has been very fast and simple to set up. The team at Vatix have been supportive and helpful, and the platform is very user-friendly. Safety and awareness as a whole have definitely improved at Wessex since implementing the solution.
